Helpful Banner Care Tips

June 16, 2017

Once you have taken that banner (that you take such pride in) back to the office, there are a couple important reminders that you want to remember in order to keep your vinyl banner looking good as new.

Vinyl Banners:

  1. Always remember to roll your banner with the design facing inwards. You don’t want the print to be exposed or have any external contents harming the most important visual part of the banner.
  2. Make sure that the banner is completely dry when you are rolling it up. Any sort of wetness or even dampness can damage the banner. When storing the banner, make sure the location is dry and cool in temperature.
  3. Make sure to never fold your banner. In order to avoid damages and any sort of creasing, banners should always be rolled up. A tube of any sort is always helpful to help roll and store the banner. It also decreases the amount of creasing and cracks in the banner.
  4. Make sure to clean the banner with a soft and damp rag if there is any sort of dirt or film on the banner. Avoid using scrubbing brushes with bristles and if you choose to use a cleaning chemical, insure that it is not a harsh substance. Avoid any contact with the banner and any of the following substances; acetone, alcohol, gasoline and paint thinners.

Fabric Banners:

  1. Very similar to the care tips that you would take for vinyl banners, they can be applied to fabric banners as well.
  2. Wrinkles can be removed from fabric with a steamer on the back of the banner. Never steam on the side of the banner that displays the print.
  3. Do not machine wash or tumble dry the banner. The material should also never be bleached either.
  4.  Avoid any contact with ink or any types of paint to the banner. The goes for any harsh substances as mentioned above.

Custom Table Throw Fabrics:

  1. If you are looking to remove any sort of wrinkles from the fabric, these wrinkles can be removed with a cool iron or a fabric steamer. The fabric can also be machine washed, however, it should be washed using cold water and on a delicate cycle.
  2. Do not bleach the fabric and do not tumble dry. This type of material must be air dried preferably on its frame to avoid any sort of shrinkage.
  3. If your banner has a zipper, keep the exhibit fabric zipped close. This will avoid any sort of damage to the zipper. Remove any sort of hardware attached to the fabric prior to washing the banner.
  4. Do not dry clean the banner and be sure to use a mild soap and cool water when washing the material. The fabric must be completely dry prior to storing the fabric.
  5. If you are treating any stains, be sure to use a lint free cloth. Treat the stain from the backside of the fabric. Lightly pat down the stain from the outside then move in, to avoid the stain from spreading. If you are using a cleaning solution, make sure that no solution is left on the fabric. Beforehand, it is important to test how the solution will react on the fabric. Test by dabbing the solution on a corner piece of the fabric.
