Vinyl Banner Fonts
Font Sizes
There’s a simple rule of thumb to follow for font sizes on banners and signs: For every 10 feet / 3 metres of intended viewing distance, your font should have at least 1 inch / 2.54 cm of height. Want to attract roadside traffic from 20 feet / 6 metres away? You’ll need at least 2 inches / 5.08 cm of font height—and you should size your banner accordingly.
Font Styles
For banner designs, we typically recommend sans-serif fonts—more specifically, display fonts are a great choice for large banners. Of course, for every rule, there’s an exception, and some businesses can do well to incorporate cursive into their banners—especially if the banner is meant to be read up close and to add an air of sophistication to your business.
Vinyl Banner Sizes
The size you’ll choose for your vinyl banner depends, in large part, on where the banner will be placed. Outdoor banners are typically much larger than indoor banners because they need to be visible from further away. To determine what banner size is right for you, take a look at this table:

Here’s another rule of thumb: The larger a banner is, the more contrast you should have between colours. Contrast makes the messaging on your banner stand out, and it’s easy to see on outdoor vinyl banners, where the glare of the sun can make complimentary colours blend together.

Place your vinyl banners in a spot where they’ll grab attention and attract your target audience to your business. This usually means placing your banner in an area with lots of traffic—foot traffic and/or vehicle traffic. You can also consider placing banners near bus stops, patios, and other areas where people gather.
