Protect Your Outdoor Graphics with an Anti-Graffiti Film

Alectra Utilities Electrical Box
June 19, 2024
SpeedPro Etobicoke/Brampton/Mississauga East https://speedprocanada.com/brampton/ has had the pleasure of working closely with the Mississauga Arts Council and The City of Mississauga to beautify the city with local artwork on over 30 signal boxes and, wall murals. “Murals with MAC is a neighbourhood beautification project that facilitates relationships between artists and community partners,” says Jacqueline Mak, MAC’s Creative Director & Strategist, “As a part of Murals with MAC, our Boxes and Banners program transforms dull, green, and brown utility boxes into eye-catching landmarks.” https://www.mississaugaartscouncil.com/programs/murals-with-mac/
As is the case with many highly populated cities, Mississauga has become home to an increasing number of graffiti artists. While we love the original artwork being commissioned by local artists for the electrical and utility boxes, at SpeedPro Etobicoke/Brampton/Mississauga East, we’re less enthusiastic about unsolicited spray paint additions to our clients’ outdoor graphics. We offer a solution to keep exterior printed graphics looking fabulous for years by applying an anti-graffiti film!
How It Works

We stock 3M anti-graffiti films: they protect your graphics and windows from scratches, and feature a clear, non-reflective matte coating, and can be applied to any printed material.Defacing can cause damage to your brand and wreak havoc on your wallet. By equipping 3M™ Anti-Graffiti Film, your exterior graphics gain an added layer of defense that helps mitigate serious repairs. This film also offers UV rejection, blocking up to 99% of harmful ultraviolet rays that can cause interior surfaces to fade. By choosing to protect your outdoor graphics with an anti-graffiti film, you can preserve the integrity and appearance of your displays, ensuring they remain clean and vibrant despite any attempts at vandalism.

If a street artist tries to tag your protected graphic, the anti-graffiti film will prevent the spray paint (or permanent marker) from seeping into the material.

When spray paint is applied to the premium film, the paint will bead and begin to drip down, leaving a temporary faded color distortion. Let the paint fully dry, and then wipe it off with a microfiber towel. No cleaning solvents are required, but isopropyl alcohol will help. Once wiped, the faded color distortion will disappear.
Differences Between Premium and Budget Options
  • Budget Film: Ideal for flat surfaces including windows, sheetrock walls, metal signs, trash cans, and more.
  • Premium Film: Conformable to additional surfaces like brick, concrete, and wood.
Applications
An anti-graffiti film can be applied to any printed material that will be displayed outdoors. The most common applications include protecting:
  • Outdoor utility and electrical boxes
  • Retail window graphics
  • Outdoor signage
  • Printed advertisements in transit hubs (bus stops, train stations, airports, car parks, parking deck elevators, and other mass transit locations)
  • School grounds
  • Waiting rooms
  • Restrooms
  • Shopping malls
By choosing to protect your outdoor graphics with an anti-graffiti film, you can preserve the integrity and appearance of your displays, ensuring they remain clean and vibrant despite any attempts at vandalism.

We are grateful for the work that various municipalities (ex. The City of Toronto, Region of Peel, Mississauga Arts Council, etc.) have entrusted us with. We hold our work to a high standard and hope to continue being able to create works of art for these various communities.
