At SpeedPro Oshawa, we offer vinyl wrapping for a variety of vehicles, from vinyl car wraps to specialized vinyl wraps for large trucks and other vehicles. As a part of our mission to provide high-quality vehicle wraps in Oshawa, we’ve created this guide to vinyl wrap maintenance. Here’s how to care for your vinyl wrap!
Regular Washing and Cleaning
Your vinyl wrap will get dirty, just like ordinary vehicle paint would. Fortunately, vinyl wraps are fairly easy to clean. Here’s how:
- Wash your vehicle by hand, using warm water, a soft sponge or microfibre cloth, and mild soap. Be very gentle when you’re washing your vehicle wrap; washing too aggressively can damage the vinyl wrap.
- Wash your vehicle in the shade; this can prevent your vinyl wrap from drying too quickly, which can leave streaks.
- Rinse your vehicle thoroughly to remove soap suds.
- Dry your vehicle with a microfibre cloth, then let it air dry.
The whole process is as simple as that! For spot cleaning, we recommend soaking the area in warm, soapy water or vinyl wrap cleaner, and then wiping.
Avoid Automatic Car Washes
An automated car wash can damage vehicle wraps; they tend to wash your vehicle too aggressively. Gentle hand washing is the way to go.
Careful Pressure Washing
We recommend washing your vehicle by hand when you have a vinyl wrap; if you really want to use a pressure washer, be sure to use it at the lowest possible setting.
Use Recommended Cleaning Products
Regular maintenance is a key part of caring for your vinyl wrap and keeping up your vehicle’s appearance. When you purchase a vinyl wrap from SpeedPro, we can give you care tips, including a list of recommended cleaning products. Stick to those cleaning products, avoid abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals, and your wrap will be a breeze to care for.
Always Follow the Manufacturer’s Care Recommendations
Beyond our tips on how to clean your wrapped vehicle, we’ll also give you other maintenance tips for proper care after purchase, including how to wax your vehicle, how to apply protective coatings and more. Follow these tips to keep your vinyl wrap in top condition!
Be Careful Where You Park
Parking under trees can increase the likelihood of tree sap or bird droppings landing on your vehicle, which can mean more spot cleaning than you might like. You’ll also want to avoid parking in direct sunlight, especially if you have a darker vehicle wrap; these rays can degrade the quality of the wrap.
Where possible, park in a garage or another enclosed space; when that’s not possible, try to park in the shade of a building, rather than the shade of a tree.
Avoid Exposure to Extreme Weather
Extreme temperatures can reduce the lifespan of your vehicle’s vinyl wrapping. Oshawa can see some fairly extreme temperatures in both the summer and winter, and we recommend keeping your vehicle in a garage or indoor parkade when parked on days with extreme weather.
