How We Create Custom LED Signs
Our marketing knowledge and dedication to quality shine through every LED sign we create. Here’s the process:
Consultation: You tell us about your goals, design ideas, the size of the sign you’re looking for, the environment you’ll use it in, and more. We’ll give you insights into the type of LED signage that might work best for the project. We can incorporate calls-to-action, your logo, your brand colours, and just about anything else you might want.
Design: Our design team will render several different iterations of the LED signage in the environment it will be deployed in. You will look at those iterations and give us feedback until we hone in on the perfect LED sign for your business.
Manufacturing: Your LED sign will be manufactured with materials and design choices that are tailored to the environment you’ll be using it in. Outdoors, we typically use aluminum cabinets that are designed to withstand the rain, wind, and salt we see in Victoria; indoors, other materials may be used to reduce costs. In all cases, the illumination offered by the signage will be calibrated to the ambient lighting expected in the area.
Testing: All of our LED signs are carefully calibrated to ensure that the images and calls-to-action you’ve created are plainly visible in the places you want to attract customers from. Different techniques are used depending on the size of the sign and its distance from potential customers – think roadside traffic versus pedestrian traffic.
Delivery and Installation: Once your LED sign has been tested and calibrated, we deliver it to the premises and install it on your behalf.
Maintenance: Need LEDs replaced? Give us a call; we’re happy to provide maintenance for all of our LED signs.

FAQ
How do I determine the right size & brightness for an LED sign?
The size and brightness of your LED sign will depend on several factors; the primary three are:
- Viewing distance (1 inch / 2.54 cm of letter height for every 10 feet / 3 m of viewing distance)
- Conditions (outdoor signage must be brighter to compete with sunlight and other ambient lighting)
- Speed of traffic (larger, brighter signs are needed to be visible at highway speeds)
What is the difference between SMD & DIP LED technology?
Dual In-Line Package (DIP) LEDs are an older technology that uses separate red, green, and blue LED bulbs arranged to create your sign. Surface-Mounted Device (SMD) LEDs offer a single LED package that contains all three colours.
SMD LEDs are by far the most widely used in signage; they’re far more compact and offer a much higher resolution. DIP LEDs are still occasionally used for low-resolution highway signage, however, because they can get incredibly bright without generating as much heat.
How long do LED signs typically last, & what maintenance is required?
LEDs themselves last 50,000 to 100,000 hours; that’s about 5 to 11 years of 24/7 continuous use. LED modules can also be replaced in some situations, which can extend the lifespan of your signage. Proper maintenance includes removing snow from the signage, cleaning it regularly, and checking for damage once a month.
