Pop-up banner stands are designed to be easy to assemble and take down; they’re portable, lightweight, and great for trade shows! In this article, we’re going to explore how to set up and take down your retractable banner quickly. Most people can get the job done in well under five minutes!
Step 1: Prepare The Stand Base
First, clear the area where you’re going to set up your pop-up banner; the fewer obstructions, the better. Take the banner out of its carrying case, then put the stand base upside down. Your retractable banner stand will probably feature swivelling legs; simply rotate them, then flip the stand base up.
Step 2: Connect The Vertical Pole To The Base
Once the base is set up, you’ll assemble the vertical banner pole. Most often, this pole is folded up into the base; retrieve it from the base to assemble it. The support pole may fold out like a tent pole or telescope out like an antenna. Either way, once it’s assembled, simply place it in the pole-sized hole in the banner stand.
Step 3: Pull Up The Banner And Connect It To The Pole
Hold the support pole steady, then lift the retractable banner from the base. There will be a hook at the top of the pole and a lip at the top of the banner; simply hook the lip onto the support pole.
Step 4: Make Any Needed Adjustments
You may find the banner is slightly off-centre or not properly attached to the pole. Don’t worry—just remove the banner from the hook, adjust it slightly, then try again! Note that you should never extend the banner so far that it comes out of the retractable stand; more on that in our bonus section!
Taking Down Your Retractable Banner
We have great news if you found setting up your banner simple; taking it down is just as easy! Simply:
- Unhook the banner
- Gently guide the banner back down into the base
- Remove the pole from the base
- Disassemble the pole
- Put the pole back in the base
- Rotate the legs in
- Pack the banner stand away!
Bonus: Changing The Graphics On A Retractable Banner Stand
You may have purchased several different banners, but only a single retractable banner stand; here’s how to change banners
On most retractable banner stands, there will be a sidecap with a locking pin. You will remove the sidecap and locking pin. From there, you will begin to gently pull out the banner, carefully rolling it up as you pull.
Eventually, you will come to another piece of material that is attached to your banner—often through double-sided tape, Velcro, or other adhesives. When you see this, reinsert the locking pin, then gently remove the banner from the other piece of material, known as the leader piece.
Then, attach the new retractable banner to the leader piece, remove the locking pin, and slowly guide the banner back into the base. Put the pin back into the side, reattach the sidecap, and your banner is ready to go!
